Modeling Information (WHAT TO BRING, ETC.)

Please see the Model Release section for important information.

On your shoot day, try to arrive on time for your session (normal start time is 9:00 or 9:30) to allow time for mandatory paperwork (Model Release). Be sure to bring a driver's license or official government issued ID.

My studio is located in Athens, AL. (physical address provided upon booking).

This is situated about thirty minutes north of Huntsville International Airport (code HSV), about an hour and a half north of Birmingham Airport (code BHM), and about an hour and a half south of Nashville Airport (code BNL).

NOTE: The FuriousFotog™ brand specializes in male model/couples photography and licensing for romance book covers (including those with diverse characters, genres, and storylines). As such, I no longer shoot general portraiture, cosplay, weddings, events, or gym/sponsorship shoots.

Recommended items for every FuriousFotog photoshoot:

  • A selection of jeans with plain, well-fitting tee shirts and tank tops/a-shirts (for general clothed and shirtless stock). Note: brands cannot be shown in the final product, so smaller logos are preferred.
  • A button up shirt (any solid color).
  • Footwear will not be photographed, so wear something comfortable.  If shooting in outdoor water, bring shoes (flip-flops, etc.) for wading.
  • It is better to have too many options than not enough.

Optional items to bring for themed book cover photoshoots (if owned or available):

  • Full suit or business casual clothes like khakis (for businessman stock)
  • Zip-up hoodie (for fighter/bad boy stock)*
  • Leather jacket (for bad boy stock)*
  • Caps/hats and other accessories.
  • Sportswear (plain shorts, etc)
  • Themed looks from work or daily life, such as cowboy hats, firefighter equipment, or construction wear.
  • Specialized props.
  • Logos or specific rank/firehouse/department information will not be present in final shots that are posted online or used on book covers.

Photographer-provided wardrobe and props for themed sets of book cover photos:

While shooting, we will be getting images of you in a variety of themed wardrobe/props for specific book genres that I will also provide (for example, sports like football and baseball, doctor, military, etc.).

Additional clothing tips:

  • Solid colors are best. Try to avoid patterns and extremely bright colors as they do not photograph well.
  • Clothes should fit well and be free of wrinkles. Tighter fits are preferred but not required.
  • Clothing with various textures and layers (vests, jackets) can add interest. Worn or distressed clothing can also add some distinction to the shoot.
  • To make your eye color pop, consider the following: Blue eyes may be enhanced by a blue, green, brown or gray shirts. Green eyes with earthy tones or subtle grays. Brown and hazel eyes tend to have a wider range of colors that enhance them.

The number of looks:

There is no set limit to the number of looks in the photography session; the only limit is time.

Where photos will be taken:

General shoots occur in studio on a black backdrop, interiors (only if relaxed lifestyle, bedroom, or shower/wet shots are taken as part of book cover photo shoots), and on location for country and urban backdrops.

Preparation:

  • Arrive with clean skin lightly moisturized.
  • It is strongly suggested that you do not experiment with new skincare products or facials close to the day of your shoot.
  • Please do not use bronzer or apply tanning color as it tends to appear blotchy and unnatural in photos and will require additional time and cost to correct.

  • If you are planning to tan before our shoot date and are prone to skin redness after tanning, please ensure enough days have passed from the tanning session to avoid having reddish skin tones during the shoot.
  • For a physique-oriented shoot, we may apply some oil/gel for added sheen and muscularity.

Please note that hair and makeup services are not provided as part of the shoot, so please arrive camera-ready and bring any hair or makeup product if any touch-ups or adjustments are necessary.

The Shoot:

  • It is recommended that you arrive on time.
  • Arriving later will shorten your booked shoot time, and payment (where applicable) applies to the entire scheduled duration even if it is cut short by being late.
  • Paperwork and payment will be completed before the commencement of the shoot. Cash, credit card or check is accepted on site, or prepayment via PayPal or Venmo.

My goal for any shoot is to capture you in the best manner possible while providing a variety of looks consistent with my style. I strive to keep a relaxed, yet professional environment free of stress or other uncomfortable factors.

After The Shoot:

The Images of you may be licensed for romance book cover use. You will be paid appropriate fees for use of the Image in this capacity (either as a rate for their time ["Day Rate"] or per image ["Talent Fee"], as agreed upon and signed in their Model Release).

As part of promotion, I will schedule periodic posts of you on my social media pages.

Please do not post PROOFS from the galleries online, as they are not edited and may already be under consideration for licensing by author clients.

Cancellations & Rescheduling:

Photoshoots that have to be cancelled shall be rescheduled as soon as possible, but only when both you and the Photographer's schedules mutually align to be convenient for both parties.

The Model Release Form

The Model Release Form is a required document that must be agreed upon and signed before the session.

There are two options for the Model Release Form, summarized below.

In both cases, Model Images shall not be used for pornographic or defamatory purposes, so there's no need to worry.

OPTION 1

The Standard Release used for book cover photoshoots.

  • The release grants consent for Model Images to be shared online by the Photographer, at their professional discretion.
  • For book covers, the release allows Model Images to be offered for potential licensing for use on all romance book covers (including those with diverse characters, genres, and storylines) with compensation per image as a prearranged Talent Fee.
  • The release allows the Photographer to use the Model Images for their own projects and advertising without additional royalties or payments to the Model (e.g. for use in advertising, on business cards, in calendars, prints, etc.).
  • The release acknowledges that the Model Images taken are within the client's comfort level at the time and that they shall be offered for licensing in perpetuity.
  • Should the model no longer wish the Photographer to offer the Model Images for sale (e.g. due to career path changes, etc.), the release acknowledges that they shall either buy out the session at the price indicated on the release or allow the Model Images to be modified by the Photographer to change the model's appearance and offer those Modified Model Images for sale without payment of the Talent Fee.
  • The release waives liability of the Photographer for the session pertaining to infections & viruses such as COVID-19.
  • Models with tattoos acknowledge they have permission from the tattoo artist and bear liability for their use in commerce.

OPTION 2

A Special Release used for photoshoots. It is identical to Option 1 except the Photographer shall pay the Model for their time at a prearranged Day Rate for the sole purpose of shooting Model Images without any further compensation. In this case, the Model is being been paid for their time only via the prearranged Day Rate.

PLEASE NOTE THAT OPTIONS 1 & 2 ABOVE CANNOT BE COMBINED (i.e. you cannot be paid both a Talent Fee and a Day Rate). You must select one or the other.
